If you haven't seen both the British and Swedish Wallander series, I recommend them. For something newer, maybe "Down Cemetery Road"? It's not Nordic, but it just finished and it stars Emma Thompson has a private investigator.

Another British crime drama that's more of a slow burn mystery, excellent cast:

Also not Nordic, but Dark Winds is also good. It's about the Navajo Tribal police, so more of a southwestern vibe:

Thank you! This all sounds delightful!

Also yeah, Nordic Noir is a description of general vibes I prefer. I am not always that much of a fan even. (For example, I tried watching Sorjonen/Bordertown recently and it annoyed the hell out of me)

You might also enjoy River, with Stellan Skarsgård playing a detective dealing with the recent murder of his partner and the subsequent guilty hallucinations. It's a bit more out there than the typical crime drama:

For crime set in a bleak landscape:

Endeavour (the prequel to the Inspector Morse series) is also nice if you enjoy a post-war setting in Oxford:

Similarly, Foyle's War is an older series, but still excellent:
