Toby Ziegler's "downfall" on The West Wing is kind of infamous for feeling very out of character and poorly written.

And there's whatever the fuck was going on in Once Upon a Time. Early on, I thought they gave Regina and Rumple pretty decent downfall and redemption arcs. The subsequent revolving door of downfalls and redemptions quickly became less convincing.

Oh man I am glad I stopped watching before that happened. I cannot imagine a satisfying, in-character Toby downfall arc.
