At first I really didn't like his character because I felt like he was a caricature of men like me, but then I started to really appreciate him. I think I'm sensitive because of seeing so many homophobic depictions of GNC gay guys and assuming this would be another one.

I am a lot like him (though obviously he's an over the top cartoon character in a magical world with super unrealistic elements, LOL), and I found it really refreshing and comforting how he's written and how he's treated by his friends. Idk, I like that he's shown as sexy, that his problems are taken seriously, that his story shows good and bad sides of sexuality, and that he gets to be a silly character without it being homophobic mockery. I don't know if I'm wording this too well because it's kind of personal but yeah I ended up really loving him after a few episodes.
