I don't think OP sounded like they were against non-canon shipping them in fandom, only about Disney making them canon re: people wanting the ship to be canon. Or at least that's how I read it

I'd prefer them to remain best friends in canon too, and encourage fandom shipping for people who want that. Making it canon would inevitably ruin it for the fandom anyway I bet
