Me too. I don't usually hate the ship when it becomes canon, but I do lose interest. I eventually realized that what I like about shipping is all the stuff that comes before the relationship, the buildup and imagining how they'd finally get together. Once they do in canon it's just, okay, they're a couple. That's nice. Yawn. AU fics of them getting together in different ways than they do in canon don't interest me either, though I'm still not sure why that is.
