I love my mom dearly, but sometimes she just does stuff that makes me shake my head.

The cat begs for (human) food. She gives the cat as much of it as she'll eat. When she's full, she walks away from it, and then throws up. Like, yeah, Mom, you know this little piggie will eat until she is overfull, and then puke, so why don't you cut her off after she's had some?? I know it's hard to tell that sweet little face no, but you're not doing her any favors!

I feel you on this, my dad does this with my dog and it's so frustrating. My parents' dog is a little garbage can and can happily eat whatever you give him but my dog has a more sensitive stomach and will throw up if she eats too much. I'll tell him not to give her too much and he'll sit there just feeding her more food and then I have to clean up the puke.

Unfortunately, when people do this it's about their selfishness being prioritized over the cat's well-being. They feel good about giving a pet food they enjoy, even if it's bad for the cat/dog. It makes the human feel... wanted? Powerful? Loved? So they keep doing it even though it's unhealthy for the cat/dog and will ultimately lead to health problems and a shorter lifespan for the animal.

My sister's mother-in-law throws food on the ground to feed my sister's dog and my sister hates it. Her dog will often throw up if she eats scraps/human food, and of course my sister will have to clean up the mess. Even when she asks/tells MIL not to feed the dog, MIL doesn't care.
