I agree. If it gets way too excessive, maybe mention it to one of the mods. Otherwise, just don't engage with it. That happened in a small community I'm part of, and no one ever said anything about it to my knowledge, but people started to just kind of ignore it, and eventually she mostly stopped talking about it.

I didn't mind it as much in the off topic areas, but this was being posted all over, which was just too much. Anybody who is monopolizing the conversation, no matter what the topic is, is going to get annoying.

So, I'm not going to say that it would for sure keep me from reading what they wrote, but it would make me much more inclined to skip it. That's a huge turn off and very off putting. If they wrote something I was really interested in, I would probably go ahead and give it a try, but I would have much less patience with it, and I would be a lot more likely to get annoyed and stop reading it.

You kids never would've survived early 2000s writing where authors interacted with characters on both sides of the fic.

I think that’s a really different thing. At worst, it’s weird in a “cringe” way. But it’s not self-pitying or trying to guilt trip the reader.

I always find that such a turnoff . I prefer to use my authors notes to babble about creative choices, update people on small things that might effect my posting schedule (there is no schedule only ADHD) and occasionally apologize for going quiet for a year.

I’d skip it. I have enough drama in my life with kids, an elderly parent, health problems, budget difficulties, and life in general. I don’t need somebody else’s drama in my life. Especially since it sounds like it’s a them problem and they don’t recognize that.

I can feel my toes-curling as I'm thinking this, because I know it feels like something film fans always say, but 2001 really clicked into place for me when it was a limited rerelease in my country and I got to see it at the cinema. I already sorta liked it (I like slow films too under certain circumstances) but being completely immersed like that really helped.

This might actually be a good use for AI.

Get AI to put that hairstyle on a human model to show your hairstylist.

(Anonymous) 2025-12-31 01:02 am (UTC)(link)
Great memories of that movie and IA

As a third person who loves those anime bobs in here I want to say there are some kpop equivalents that could be used for that, Wonyoung from Ive and Jungyeon from Twice and Choa from AoA come to mind - signed someone who is sporting a bob now

(Anonymous) 2025-12-31 01:05 am (UTC)(link)
Yeah, pretty much lol

Surviving without reading those fics was pretty easy to do lol

Pretty much a surefire way of telling the fic is going to sound like it was written by a 15 year old, whether the author actually was 15 or not

Depends? I skip authors notes already anyway, so there's a good chance I never read the note. But if it was so long and whiny that I couldn't help but notice I'd def be bracing for badfic

I'm just not a fan. I get why it is loved, it just doesn't work for me. I've also read the books, and I much prefer the second one to the first one.

I know for a fact I didn't watch 10 new movies this year.

First, thank you Secret Maker!!!

Right now I'm actually hoping to get a specific hairstyle from the list on Hogwarts Legacy: https://cdna.artstation.com/p/assets/images/images/063/253/668/4k/little-red-zombies-sm-hum-f-hair-stuhair03-windy-2.jpg?1685086007

It looks simple but I have so much hair that I don't know if it can be done without a billion layers and thinning, which my kind of wavy texture usually does not cooperate with (it doesn't have the gumption to be full wavy, it just won't lie straight or go into any kind of regular curl pattern and I'm too lazy and inept to heat-style). I've just spent 40+ hours watching my player character rock the look and I want it so much!

(Anonymous) 2025-12-31 01:37 am (UTC)(link)
I would ignore it if I was otherwise interested in the fic, but it would make me think less of the author as a person.

I'm glad to hear even small fandoms are holding LRG accountable for their fuckups. Good job, Tomba fans.

Thank you, Secret Maker!

To elaborate, in the Eras Tour documentary they just released, they showed some of the infamous workout routine she had to do to be able to get through the tour every night.

And the whole time she was saying, "I hate this" on every rep. Which I relate to extremely whole-heartedly, I hate working out with the fire of a thousand suns.

(Before you @ me with "it was curated to make her look relatable", well duh. But it wouldn't have hurt her image at all to be shown working out like a hardcore dedicated athlete either. Her fans already act like she's a God, being stoic about her workout would have them squeeing over how cool she was.)

+1 What happened to the days when mods just said, "hey folks, we're getting off-topic, IRL thread is thataway" and everybody just nodded and listened?

(Anonymous) 2025-12-31 01:52 am (UTC)(link)
LMAO this would piss me off so bad

Stephen Schwartz y'all, that man fucks.

I want to see Late Night With the Devil even though I kept reading mixed reviews.

Organizing and Decorating Excitement

(Anonymous) 2025-12-31 02:16 am (UTC)(link)
I just ordered wall shelves for my kitchen and I’m absolutely thrumming with excitement! I will finally have a place for everything in my kitchen and the one weird wall will finally have something on it that doesn’t look out of place. I ordered from a local woodworker who did some great work for my neighbor.

My last big excitement was a little wooden cup that holds my scissors, box cutter, a pen, and a Sharpie on the hall table where I open mail and packages. The time before that, I found a decorative wine box at a thrift store that now stores the binding combs for my binding machine.

It’s taken me years of living here to find a place for everything I use and I am just so super happy and excited!

Does anyone else get like this or am I just weird?
