Re: What were the top 5 best and worst new movies you watched (to you) this year?
(Anonymous) 2025-12-31 07:11 am (UTC)(link)Skyline (I actually knew this wouldn't be good, but I thought it might be the fun kind of bad - it was not)
Five Nights at Freddy's (I'd never played the game and went into it pretty blindly, I feel that was a big mistake)
Wonka (I'm not sure what I expected, but it wasn't that - I think Chalamet can be a decent actor, but I have no idea what he was going for here)
World Trade Center (I should have known, Oliver Stone movies don't generally work for me)
Fantasy Island (oh man, this was just so bad, in really weird ways - I couldn't decide whether they liked the original show or hated it)
The 355 (hey, we don't actually need a good plot if we make an action movie with all the women spies - girl power, amiright?)
Warm Bodies (if I was supposed to root for the weird stalker zombie, it didn't work)
The Menu (I get there was a message in the movie about pretentiousness, but the movie itself felt so up its own ass to me that any sort of satire seemed really hollow)
Battleship (as with Skyline, I actually knew this wouldn't be good, but I thought it might be the fun kind of bad - not for me and I was really annoyed by Taylor Kitsch)
Dishonorable mentions: Eight-Legged Freaks (oh no, the fake-ass spiders are going to get you, how scary) and Central Intelligence (this could have been much funnier than it was, so much of it was just damn awkward)
Re: What were the top 5 best and worst new movies you watched (to you) this year?
(Anonymous) 2025-12-31 07:50 am (UTC)(link)Also omg agree about The Menu. It wasn't bad bad, but it was so hollow and annoying
Also not American so maybe it s not my place, but this one joke about student debt girl was so meh
Re: What were the top 5 best and worst new movies you watched (to you) this year?
(Anonymous) 2025-12-31 08:57 am (UTC)(link)Lol, thanks! It was just so irritating to end up spending so much time watching bad movies. It really dampened my enthusiasm for watching new to me movies. I've watched about half the number this year of what I did last year. Though there were a few I watched in 2024 that I really enjoyed (The Black Phone, Late Night with the Devil, Twisters), the majority were bad or mediocre.
Re: What were the top 5 best and worst new movies you watched (to you) this year?
(Anonymous) 2025-12-31 06:52 pm (UTC)(link)But I feel you, it's wasted time and it sucks.
Also a lot of the times you watch a movie and it seems alright but afterwards you realise how you actually hated it.
