I understand why people don't like her character. Angry, difficult female characters tend to get a lot more pushback because they go against what people consciously or unconsciously expect of women: to be pretty, agreeable, sweet, etc. But honestly, I find Carol's anger to be incredibly relateable. I try not to be as vocal about it as her, of course, because see above. But I can relate. I'm middle-aged, the world is going to hell in a handbasket, my family is dysfunctional and toxic and I'm still expected to smile, cook, clean and be everyone's emotional support human through it all.

If I were Carol, trapped in toxic positivity hell, I'd be furious, too.

Babylon 5 is just as hopeful about humanity as Star Trek is. It just takes place over a longer span, with more stumbles on that path to improvement is all. B5 is not the darker SFF franchise!

I finally found someone who understands my favorite character the same way I do, and they draw lovely art of them to boot. What little they've revealed about themselves also gives me vibes we could jibe together.

...The kicker is I have too much anxiety to say hi.

S!B: ...yeah. Literally everyone I tell this too has urged me to reach out. I haven't experienced socially anxiety since I was a young teenager, now I'm in my mid-30s too nervous to go "same hat" to a stranger online.

I'd like to consider myself open minded, but I'll be honest...

Some of the tags on A03 make me despair about the state of humanity

I love the new animation of the Big Troopa when he's ready to launch. It's so cute.

S!B This enemy was problematic in the original, to the point they toned down all the fat shaming.

During the whole arc in Frasier after the radio station fired him, why did he never seem worried about not having money? that always struck me as odd, he was unemployed but still going to fancy restaurants, etc.

I'm pretty impressed with the translation of Final Fantasy Tactics: The Ivalice Chronicles. I'm sad it hasn't hooked me though, since the original was good (even with the terrible translation). Granted, the politics hit a little too close to home right now so I'll likely be playing this periodically.

B!S Unsurprisingly, Argath (Algus) is still a cunt. But damn if he doesn't have some sick burns.

Because you’re worried about “sexual depravity” or something else?

This is really selling me on finally starting the series.

Eh. I don't agree. It is ultimately more hopeful, but it takes longer. In Trek, humans meet aliens and promptly pull themselves together and within a hundred years become an idealistic society. In Babylon 5, humans and aliens work together to reach their ideal, but it takes a lot longer, takes more work, and humanity screws up a lot more first. Babylon 5 is ultimately hopeful too, yes. But not quite to level of Trek, and in a different way.

What good things have happened for you recently, or what things are you looking forward to in the near future?

I think we all need some good right now.

Probably because the showrunners wanted the drama of him getting fired but didn't want to have to make him actually change in the way he is characterized...hence, keeping the same habits.

(note: It's been over a decade since I've seen anything Frasier, I don't actually remember this with any certainty so my response is a cynical comment based off my assumption about the situation)
