I grew up in a poor, working-class family and felt so seen when I watched this show. All my friends had their own bedrooms and I had to share a bed with my sisters until I was sixteen. Then I got my own room, but all my furniture was a mish-mash of leftover pieces. I didn't get a matching bedroom set until my twenties and I was so freaking thrilled when it arrived.

I'm in my sixties and I still haven't got a matching set. The money went on books and travel and chocolate instead.
