I've never liked canon relationships. I've come to the realization that I'm probably not even into half the ships I actually ship. I have interest in pre-slash, and pre-slash alone apparently. I'm into it for the potential of the characters dynamic, as soon as that changes, romantic or otherwise my interest just plummets. Not sure why.

Yes, me too!

I feel that way about het canon, also.

The will they/won't they is part of the excitement of shipping, for me. When they get together in canon they usually don't do it how I imagined it would go.

I feel this way about established relationship fic for non-canon (or canon) couples, too. I want the excitement of someone falling for another person and not domestic contentment. I'm married; I already have that at home.
