Yeah, I thought she was a bimbo whose good looks and status as a sex symbol got her fame. I bought into the misogynistic adult narrative when I was a kid.

It was somewhere in my early 20s where I realized how fucked up the world had been treating Britney, and the media's obsession with her was literally dangerous to her safety. I think it was a mix of seeing how constant the tabloids were intruding upon her private life and experiencing the world as a young woman myself that I began to gain more compassion for Britney Spears (and once I got past my internalized misogyny I was able to admit that I love Britney's music).

Looking back, it was so incredibly disgusting the way she was treated. Creeped me out hearing how she was alone with a grown man as her photographer for her "racy" Rolling Stones cover.
The constant asking her about her virginity.
Rosie O'Donnell chastising her for clothes she wore.

Seriously, forever leave Britney alone.

Wasn't there an instance where she had some sort of breakdown or something and was being taken to the hospital, and there were paparazzi actually surrounding the fucking ambulance as they were driving away?

I always felt the ambulance shudld've had free reign to plow through that crowd of paparazzi if need be. They're literally impeding someone's safe passage to the hospital, they should've faced criminal chaarges for that.
