We should have a yearly lockdown after Christmas. Every year, three weeks lockdown, just to let us all get over all the colds and goddamn flu we got infected with by our family on Christmas, and to stop anyone else getting it.

Also, wear masks if you are loaded with germs. Yes, even kids. The amount of people, visibly ill, and dragging kids who are hacking and coughing and sneezing around, in the supermarket is frankly disgusting. Either stay home, or mask up, we do not need to suffer this every year.

I was hoping so much that after covid, people would actually be open to adopt the Japanese/East Asian practise of wearing masks when you're sick so you don't affect others but of course not.

I was hoping the same. I have a chronic lung condition and wear a mask often during the summer, all the time in the winter, and the crap I get for that is impressive and stupid.

It wasn't just Japanese convention (but oh what a good role model) but I haven't stopped wearing masks in places that have more than 10 people because I have also finally been diagnosed as having a "reactive airway" disease of unknown origin, meaning that anything from woodsmoke to dust to fragrances can trigger an allergy-like cascade reaction. I wear a mask to keep scents and dust out, and idgaf if anyone wants to start shit about it. Wear. A Goddamn. Mask. Or stop wearing so much cologne for fuck's sake.

Christ, yes.

Also - I hate that my stupid job expects us all to risk life and limb driving in this shitty, snowy, fucking arctic-cold weather and their big contribution is an Aldi bag with cheap bread, peanut butter, jelly, and some chips for 'snacks' in case we end up stuck in the house we're staffing and have to do a 16 or 24 hour shift.
Also - i hate some of my fellow co-workers for being inconsiderate jerks and calling out in droves at the last minute so that I and a couple others are left working back to back fucking 12 and 16 hour shifts to cover for them because our ladies must have 24/7 staff.

They have busses that shuttle the individuals from ISL to day activities, why can't they shuttle us, too?

Just. Cancel January. In the US, start things back up after the MLK holiday if necessary. But there is no reason to do society as usual for the first 2-3 weeks of January. FFS let people recover from the holidays and let illnesses and nasty weather run their course. It's all such an exercise in masochism.

Yes, everyone in my area was sick, many with actual flu, but I only spotted two people (me and an elderly lady undergoing cancer treatment) wearing masks.
