It's such puritanical BS. Anything deemed "weird" is suspect, and the moment there is anything sexual tied to it, that is the ONLY aspect Puritans focus on.

Furries are into humanoid-like animals. It means they like the look, they like to create personalities with lore (cat fursona vs dog fursona, etc), and yes, SOME people in the community do participate in sexual aspects of being a furry.
But all people hear is "SEX WITH FUR SUITS! PEOPLE LIKE SEX WITH FUR SUITS!"

It's so immature and closed minded.

I think even if the sex aspect is prominent, assuming any public display of expressing an interest must be a kink is really warped logic. Especially when there's logistic issues with claiming suit sex is common when these are extremely expensive and difficult to make. I don't see people pull this argument with similar interests like anime, which is a broad interest with a community with both a sexual aspect and bad actors. Imagine if someone say a guy wearing an anime shirt or a cosplay and jumped to "Oh my god this guy said they like anime, they must watch loli tentacle hentai! He probably has sex in cosplay!" Like...

I saw a Tumblr post claiming it was degenerate that Disney was selling Zootopia merchandise of animal ears and tails. (I didn't watch the movie, I don't know if this is true.) But I'm sorry, if you see merchandise sold for children and associate it with fetishes, that's pedophile logic. It really says more about them. You become so obsessed with "degeneracy" that you sexualize children.
I dislike most kinks, but if I see someone wearing a tail in public, I just assume they're a nerd? Not, "oh my god this person is a sex freak and forcing me to participate in their fetish." Haha

The post was ranting along the lines of "I can't believe degenerates are roping children in their ideology," which... 1. That sure sounds familiar... *cough* 2. You know it's like, normal for kids to pretend to be animals as a form of make believe? I did as a kid, I loved movies like Oliver and Company and would pretend to be a dog because I wanted to be my dog's friend. Again, if someone admits to thinking of porn when seeing children engage in pretend, that's really pedophilic.

For sure. Whenever someone looks at kids doing totally normal kids stuff, and acts like it's something degenerate or pedophiliac that someone is grooming them to do, I side eye *them.* They're either having something weird going on themselves, or they're reaching way, way, way too hard to find something problematic to complain about.

Exactly. My friend's daughter is 5, and when I saw her the other day she had a headband with a unicorn horn and ears on. She very proudly announced to me that she was a unicorn, in case I could not see the horn. That's just what kids do.

Idk when/how general society started slipping back towards being so Puritanical, but it has. Like, sometimes someone will get upset over something that they're viewing as sexual, and it's such a stretch that I don't even know how they got to the conclusion they came to. And for a lot of people, it isn't even a religious thing, they just somehow get offended by any mention of or reference to sex.
