Re: What is the dumbest, pettiest, most pointless argument you have seen someone insist on?

Oh man, rant incoming. Sorry in advance. But I really don't understand why people don't respect other peoples' preferences about having children. If someone DOESN'T want children, shouldn't you respect that? Maybe they think they'd be a bad parent, maybe they want to break some type of cycle that has happened in their family, maybe they have a health condition they don't want to pass down, maybe they're living in poverty and can't afford it, maybe they just don't want a kid??? And if they don't want a kid, they might resent it and not be the greatest parent?! I'll just never understand why people get so nosy and insistent about it.

Also, uhhhhhhh, find some random dude to use as a sperm donor - a lonely drunkard, even?? - is a TRULY wild take.

Yes, exactly! It was absolutely bewildering experience. I am not happy when my relatives feel a need to pressure me for children, but this basically a stranger was beyond strange.

I can't exactly translate to English but she used a word that is usually describes a bit pathetic middle-aged often alcoholic guy. Just this particular kind of man.
Also argument for me not wanting to be a single mother is that I have parents for that. Just.

Misery loves company, I'd guess. Maybe they felt forced to be a parent and think everyone else should have that experience. Or they weren't confident in their decision and now believe everybody else should validate it by literally rearranging their own lives. Ugh.
