It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia handled its actress's pregnancy really well and it didn't end in a baby subplot. The character was paid to be a surrogate mother. I think something similar happened in Friends if I remember correctly. It can be done well if the show has even semi-decent writers.

Yeah, they turned Lisa Kudrow's pregnancy into the triplets surrogacy storyline thing.
