Like others have said, there are other options. Like when Katey Sagal was pregnant on Married With Children, they had Peggy looking for her dad to explain why she wasn’t on the show as often. The did write her first pregnancy into the show, but then she miscarried and they had to make the pregnancy subplot a weird dream Al had.

Oh, ouch. How awful for her :( That must have been so painful.

Yeah, I'm fine with just strategic camera angles and large objects blocking the abdomen if a pregnancy plotline isn't really logical.
