And then there's the other side, which is that people will (rightfully) call out the thing for sucking, and some people will say "see, they made it diverse and it sucks." And the worst part is that they aren't even wrong on that front because the checkbox diversity is why it sucks, but the problem isn't the "diversity" aspect of that, it's the "checkbox" aspect.
