See, I'm less about top/bottom and more about dom/sub. I'm okay with any of them switching on positions, but I do have some preferences on dom/sub.

With my Buffy ships, Spike always subs, Angel aways doms, Buffy switches, Drusilla switches, Darla switches. Willow I actually think is more likely to sub and Tara do dom, but they can switch it up.

On Star Wars, Kylo/Ben is very, very sub. Rey and Hux are both doms, though very different types.

Most of my other ships I still actively read, I tend to think the characters switch it up at least some of the time, though maybe with preferences.

AYRT

Sorry this was mainly about physically topping and bottoming, not dom/sub dynamics. I should have made that more clear.

Ah, okay. Wasn't sure, people often conflate the two. Then no, I don't have particular preferences in that regard.

Haha yeah. I was curious because another anon in a thread above said "I never see people arguing that there must be [top/bottom] switching in M/F fandoms or otherwise it's misogynistic" (emphasis mine) and I was wondering if anyone does that, or if it's restricted to same-sex ships only.

I know plenty of people who "don't mind, are fine with, or enjoy" M/F ships switching who goes where but none that insist they must, for some kind of gender fairness

I have heard an occasional argument that set top/bottom in M/M pairings is sexist because it is imagining one of them in the "male" role and one of them in the "female" role. I think it is a stupid argument personally, unless the characters are also being written not as they are in canon but as completely stereotypically in other ways to the male and female stereotypes.
