Very specific tropes you love

[personal profile] philstar22 2026-02-07 11:35 pm (UTC)(link)
Are there some very specific, detailed tropes you can't get enough of?

For me it is characters who are too smart for their own good, especially villains who weave unnecessarily complex schemes and end up being caught up in their own arrogance. A simpler plan would have worked better, or they get tricked by something ordinary that they just never considered because they were too busy thinking of all the extreme possible ways they could be fought and planning for those.

I know they are cliche, but I love neighborhood type of fics where all the main characters live in the same neighborhood and do ordinary things — go food shopping, get coffee, stop in a local bookstore, walk to the park…slice of life type of stuff. They make me happy.
