Every time I see the phrase "mating press" in a fic, it immediately throws me out of it. All I can think about when I see it is panini presses, it is certainly not sexy.

Okay, I looked it up and I've seen that position described many times, but never with that description. Guess we walk in different circles OP.

It makes me think of a cattle press, which is a way they hold cattle still for veterinary procedures. Including artificial insemination, if it's a particularly ornery cow.
