As someone who emigrated to America, this is a really weird take. The political climate is shit but 1) that’s not all there is to the country and 2) it isn’t permanent.

When the question is about visiting places, we always see a great variety of amazing places and cultures. FS draws a high concentration of educated and open minded people who are passionate about many things. Seeing the world is one of those things and many regular FSers are well traveled. It’s always interesting to see how fandom itself has influenced the desire to see the world. Sometimes it’s the media alone that is the basis for the interest and sometimes it’s a mix of the media and the people in the fandom.

But visiting somewhere and living there are two very different things.
