I want to know how to properly linger in a fandom after a show ends, because I almost always have unfinished fan fiction ideas (or full fledged stories) in my Google Docs, but as soon as the main story ends, my brain’s like “Well that’s all well and done!” and won’t let me write anymore.

How do I tell my poor brain to stop that and actually let me finish the stories I’ve started to write?!

Because of Kingdom Hearts, I hate Alice in Wonderland with a passion. Anytime I hear the Nutcracker suite I feel like screaming or if an app does an AiW event I wish I could opt out.

As a woman who loves the cottagecore aesthetic, I find it disheartening how many creepy/alt-right/bigoted dudes it attracts. I hate it when I meet a guy who loves the aesthtic like i do, only to find out he's a fascist ,racist, homophobic/transphobic misgynistic asshole .

Well, if this happens every time, start by figuring out why you feel the need (even if subconsciously) to drop your ideas at the end of a series' run.

For example, are you worried everyone else will lose interest in fandom related things after the main show ends, so you feel there's no point in writing for an audience that doesn't show?

Or maybe the story felt complete every time and you felt that it didn't need your "what if" scenarios?

If you can figure out the why, you can work with that. Of course, it doesn't guarantee the resolution will be an outpouring of fanworks, but maybe the outcome will be different next time, whatever that may mean.

As a kid in the late 90s, I always enjoyed the old reruns of The Lawrence Welk Show that would play on PBS on Saturday nights. I was in no way the intended audience for this show. But the un-self-conscious 60s-70s campiness was so fun!

Ohhhhh man!! I had forgotten about this show until my dad was watching it recently 🤣 It does give me some type of comforting nostalgia now. I wouldn't probably ever sit down and actively watch it, but it makes me kind of happy to have it on as background noise.

I'm kind of a BNF in a small fandom because I designed (and wrote) a humanized AU version of a non-human character that got popular online. It's gotten to the point where I'm receiving *fanart* of the blorbo! Which is great!

But.

Now a couple of these artists are sending me drawings of my guy wearing corsets, maid outfits, etc, clearly fetishistic art with blushing and everything.

Secret: it's not *my* fetish. Trust me, I'm a freak pervert but I'm completely indifferent to this shtick. Jesus christ why do people assume everybody loves drag? I won't pretend to love it because it would drive me nuts and backfire on me. Yet I hesitate to tell the truth because I don't want to rain on their parade, either.

I'm not thrilled by this trajectory where other people's fetishes will end up overriding the character I designed. It's become such an annoying and inescapable situation and I have no idea how to handle it.
