I've never checked anything when visiting a museum before, but I recall most of the ones I've been to has their storage outside of the ticket booth area? Tickets generally say that once leaving the museum you can't go back in. And while you can store what you want, with the bigger museums you might need to rely on their cafe if you want to experience the entirely of the museum. (which is always overpriced)

I'm beginning to realizing spending a whole day at a museum isn't as typical as I thought it was, lol.
