I feel that. That was basically me trying to navigate soap opera spaces 20 years ago, and even some GoT spaces in the last decade. Some people just want to shit on everything, as if shitting on everything would elevate the one part they actually like? Makes no sense to me. I don't know why it's so difficult for folks to be chill. And the larger the group, the nastier they get.

Makes me miss smaller groups. I hate to be exclusive but people just suck.

Everything seems to be a competition to these people. The only way to promote the thing they like is to tear down something else.

I feel you. I have noticed that, for example on Reddit, almost ALL subreddits that get too large have a really unpleasant culture shift. In order for this to not happen, mods have to really micromanage and heavily moderate. Otherwise, it just gets overrun with assholes.
