From what I can tell, his fans think the show mistreated him, and people who aren't so fond of him think he was given favoritism by the writers and that their own fave got shafted to give him more screentime. I only saw the first season, so I barely had an opinion of him, but if the fave who got shafted to make room for him was El then good, he couldn't possibly be worse than that little shit.

There's something about referring to a child who's been abused, isolated, and experimented on her entire life, and who therefore doesn't have a lot of social graces, as "that little shit" that rubs me the wrong way.
