At this point if you're at all a fan of HP and live in an English-speaking country, you don't have to be terminally online to know about JKR's transphobic influence, and the continued claim that you must be is starting to seem like gaslighting. All you have to do is pay a normal amount of attention to the news, as everyone should. What people as famous as JKR do publicly tends to appear in the news, and she is very public. The only thing is that the news probably doesn't frame what she does as unreasonable, because the at best, mainstream news takes a "this is a very complex issue and both sides have their good and bad points" stance when it comes to transphobia.

I think you're vastly overestimating how much coverage she gets in the news. I'm in the US and I read the headlines every day on several different major news sites (US and international) and I literally can't even remember the last time I saw her mentioned on any of them. The ordinary person simply isn't going to know about the things she says if they don't go looking for them, because Harry Potter isn't the huge thing now that it was twenty years ago. It's still well-known, sure, but it's not the all-encompassing cultural phenomenon that it was at its peak, so there are a lot of people out there who haven't had much (if any) exposure to it or to JKR at all.

I hate to say it but it's true that American news networks/sites have gone downhill these last few years. If WaPo, and even networks like CNN or CBS won't be honest about the levels of fascism in America, I doubt they're talking about someone's transphobic views either (and yes, those things are tied together).
