What chain restaurants do you wish your town had?

I wish my town had a Taco Bell. Sometimes you just want 6 soft tacos.

Popeye's. Desperately. I want someplace to get a good spicy chicken sandwich and all we have are McDonald's and Braums.

Cava. I have to drive 30 minutes away which really isn’t that bad but it would be so nice to have one in town. I suppose the flip side is that I haven’t gotten bored of them since it’s a rare treat.

Popeye's, Tim Horton's, Five Guys, a whole lot of American chains that are unlikely to come to my little Australian state anytime soon.

Mazzio's. I miss their pizza.

I almost said Mazzio's. Their calzones are AMAZINGGGGGGGG.

Oh, man, this is wild. There was a Mazzio's in my hometown when I was a super super small child, and I had no idea it was a chain.

I wanted taco bell for over ten years after the last one closed. After the housing boom our city was the most affordable so it's population really jumped, and a bunch of different fast food places popped up as a result. Taco Bell was one of them, it's technically right out of town limits and 10-20 away, but it's back!

Though as soon as I found out that New York Fries closed up from inside out dying mall, I've been craving it ever since, lol.

I wanted a Chipotle for years and years and we finally got one!

I would like to have a Cheesecake Factory but we don't have population (or probably average income) to support one.

Yes, I'm basic as hell lol.

There used to be a Kentucky fried Chicken in the next neighborhood from me. I miss the hell out of it.

Dallas has most things. I don't think we have a Quiznos, though. I did love their sandwiches. Much better than Subway.

There is one in Plano. I know this because I am near-ish to the DFW area, and I have craved a Quizno's ham sub since I had COVID in 2023. 🥲 But it would be a good hour to get there and it's not worth it... I guess... The Quizno's left my area like 20 years ago.

Same anon as last comment, sorry. The one in Plano is the closest one to me, but I'm not sure if there might be others in DFW.

Man, Subway has gotten so enshittified in the last 20 years. Used to be my lunch, and now I'd rather go to Jersey Mike's or Jimmy John's. I do kind of miss Quiznos though... haven't seen one in forever.

Shophouse. It was my favorite chain place for the two years or so that it existed, but it no longer does.

Agree with Taco Bell. We had one when I was a kid, but they closed before they even introduced the Crunchwrap, it's been that long. I'd also take... pretty much any burger place that isn't McD's or BK, and a chicken joint, preferably Popeye's. But Taco Bell's definitely up there at the top. It's hard to beat the value of how satisfying their garbage food manages to be. I didn't appreciate it when we had it, I was too busy being annoyed that it wasn't a Del Taco instead. And now it's just a McD's.

Not a restaurant, but wish we had Aldi's grocery store. I hear people rave about it.

I had just been missing El Pollo Loco like crazy-- back when I lived near one, I never even thought about it! Haven't had it since I was in college, one time our theatre professor bought everyone working on some big project over the weekend a bunch of burritos. And now that I'm in a STATE with zero locations, I suddenly want it.

For sit-down restaurants, it's Mimi's-- again, there is not a single location in my state, let alone my town, but I miss that corn chowder like crazy. The only corn chowders I can get are an entirely different style. The other food is good too but it's that soup I dream about at night. (there IS a dupe recipe but I'm disabled and even when I'm not in a flare up, I can't stand at the stove to make soup-- so all my homemade soups have to be in the instant pot or the slow cooker, and it just doesn't come out the same)

Jollibee. It sounds so good!

I also wish we had A&W. I used to enjoy their burgers during my college years, but of course that ended when I left.

If Jollibee fried chicken is as good as other Filipino food, I want one too.

I just convinced my sister to try A&W for the first time last year! She only liked burgers from McD's but she finally realized the truth! Hopefully an A&W's opens near you soon!

Qdoba. It’s much better than Chipotle. Which we also don’t have.

Any of the bigger US ones that isn't Burger King, McDonalds, KFC or Subways. Because being in central Europe, that's basically all that exists here. I'd just be really interested to try something else, even if it's super rare for me to get fast food. There is a Five Guys in a nearby city and the fries are awesome but that's about all the "variety" we get.

In Australia and same! There are other ones in the major cities, but I am not in or anywhere near a major city. Burger King is called Hungry Jacks here, because there was already a shop called Burger King in Adelaide that had trademarked the name in the 1960s!
