I have a tendency to get into a hit or become aware of a hit before it becomes a hit (examples: manga before they got official localisations or anime adaptations, Scarlet Hollow when it was just the first chapter out, Iron Lung before big-name Let's Players tried it, BG3 and Astarion 1-2 years before the game dropped...)

I try not to have an ego about it, but I do have a little bit of an ego about it.

With BG3, do you mean while it was still in early access or did you base your opinion only on concept stuff befoe there was actually a playable version?

No offence to you or your "gift of foresight", but BG3 and Astarion were insta-big. As in, multiple pages of fic on AO3 within a week of Early Access going live. The only possible way you could have "got into it before it became a hit" was if you were part of the dev team.

BG3 was going to be a hit even before it came out...

If it helps at all in your efforts to not have an ego about it, there's absolutely nothing worth having an ego about in becoming aware of things that a blind chipmunk could tell were obviously going to become hits.
