Oh, okay, I'm not American so I guess it wouldn't have been relevant here. We did get a lot of Sesame Street, but that's much more applicable!

Sesame Street is definitely more universal. I'm pretty sure Schoolhouse Rock was developed by or for one of the main tv networks in the US and tapes were also shown in my elementary school, so I assume it was a normal practice across a portion of the country. Core memory for a lot of us!
