Yeah, it was very annoying in the recent Olympics, I thought we'd got past that! "Girls and boys" is fine. "Ladies and gentlemen" is fine (e.g. Wimbledon). "Girls and men" or "ladies and men" is not okay.

No, it holds women to a higher/more polite standard than men. Also, it's often condescending. Not as bad as girls/men, but still ugh.

tbh, I've never actually heard anyone use this pair together before, so I'm only arguing as a hypothetical.

But, I do disagree. It seems too nitpicky for ladies and men to be wrong, if ladies and gentlemen is fine. Even though I do understand the difference. At the very least I appreciate that ladies are called first, rather than second. (like 'men & women', something I know is very nitpicky itself, but I'd rather the implication of respect than the implication of being second/lesser)
It's not condescending unless it's meant to be, imo. So I just don't see it that way.
