These shows don't predict, they are generally making jokes about current news at the time. Maybe people who don't, or didn't, follow the news saw the shows first so think they are predictions?

To be fair, The Simpsons predicted that Trump would be president and bankrupt the US but it was purely accidental. They thought there was no chance someone like that could ever be president in real life. Unfortunately, we're living in a real life cartoon.
