Don't eat for 20mins after brushing your teeth. Not really sure where I learned this one, I thought it was from the back of the toothpaste box but never found one that says that.

Idk but my dentist told me 30mins recently. They said best practice is to wait but second best is to eat and then floss and brush after. I forget why.

DA

The brushing abrades your teeth for a bit, so any acids you get into your mouth from food or drink, even mild ones, will do more damage than if you waited. It also takes about 30 minutes to get the maximum protective benefit from your toothpaste, which could be wiped off by food or drink. It's also why you shouldn't rinse after brushing.

AYRT you are exactly right! That is just what my dentist said, I just couldn't recall earlier. Thanks for filling in the gap.

Anon of ayrt

Really! I actually went to the dentist today, but completely forgot to ask. One thing I've never been able to follow is the no-rinse tip, for whtever reason I cannot get used to toothpaste in my mouth.

I mean, you spit out the excess and then just don't rinse. ??
