MCU Loki specifically is very much the type of villain character that I love to see get a redemption arc or a partial redemption arc. The only point where that wasn't the case for me was in the first Avengers movie, which took a distinctly different approach to his characterization.

With that said, I don't necessarily find what was ultimately done with his character all that satisfying. I also don't disagree that chronically de-fanging villains is a bad habit that tends to undermine the narratives that do it.
