Not secret: I suspect that people who make extreme claims about female-dominated fandoms as a monolithic group have never actively participated in a female-dominated fandom at all. They're usually blindly regurgitating years-old screenshots of extreme behavior fished out by drama-hungry lurkers that have been reposted 10000 times and have never had any day-to-day interaction with the normal side of those fandoms.

Secret: I think exactly the same way about people who make the same extreme claims about male-dominated fandoms as a monolithic group, who behave exactly the same way about them. I find a lot of people agree with the first part above then are mad about the second part, though.

"Come on, we all know how THOSE people are" - both of these groups, who don't, in fact, have any idea how those people are

in before "I was in one fandom once, and so I know how ALL those fandoms are" - you're group 3
