Re: Hated Ships

(Anonymous) 2026-03-15 12:35 pm (UTC)(link)
I hate stucky with the fire of a thousand suns. And I try to be chill about it in general fandom spaces (unless someone asks, as you have), because I have friends who ship it. But hearing that Heated Rivalry started life as a stucky hockey AU killed all my interest in it, even though nothing else I've read about it makes it seem as though the backstory and characterization of the characters will even feel like stucky.

It also ruined a really promising fic in an entirely different fandom for me-- one for an OTP in an old fandom of mine, perfect tags, summary that got me, and I was hooked on everything I was reading... right up until I'm hit with a side character to the main character's personal sexuality journey getting the name James 'Bucky' Barnes, and then his 'best friend' Steve, and I just had to backbutton. No, of course it was not tagged as a crossover.

There are other ships I don't like but that one is the one that's really flames on the side of my face.
