On the other hand, you can start your own guild with a policy to /kick anyone who tries to start drama, or you can do as I've done on some of my alts and play without any guild alignment at all.
Also, if you're worried about arguments in general, there's a pretty easy way to avoid them: stay out of the major city general channels (Stormwind main seems to attract the most main drama on Alliance, and Orgrimmar main on Horde, at least on the servers I've played), and, at least on the servers I've played (Moon Guard for Alliance, Runetotem for Alliance, Sentinels for Horde characters), most of the drama seems contained to guild and party chat. If you get into a laid-back guild and don't party with idiots (and leave parties that seem to be heading in that direction) you should generally be OK. Most people (at least outside of SW and OR mains) don't drag their drama into general.
