Oh god, how I feel ya, OP. Though I do have somewhat of a WG fetish as well. I wish it wasn't so ~gross/frowned upon~ but what can you do? I kind of want to watch this episode now...but kind of not, if they're all OMG SO WEIRD the whole time :/

Yeah, the Fetish Of The Week thing is why I largely can't bring myself to watch crime dramas. One of my creative writing classes had a long involved discussion about furries one day because one of the writers who was being workshopped had talked about it in her piece and the rest of the class was like "oh, like that ep of CSI?" and I had to explain for her. (Writers in this class aren't allowed to defend themselves during their critiques, only after. Makes for a much more efficient and useful class.)

Or, IDK, maybe I hang around too many furries and get defensive about these things for no real reason. XD

There was an ep of CSI where one of the investigators was asking about some impressive bite marks, and the girl was talking about different techniques for biting. My dad commented that 'there are some freaks out there', more or less, and it took all my willpower not to crack up laughing and inform him of how fucking TAME biting is.

Point is, it just makes me uncomfortable when they're showcasing 'weird kinks' every week, and they're not even portraying them all correctly, or they villainise the fetishists. Grah.

I love crime dramas, but I totally agree with you. I initially cut CSI slack because of Lady Heather and her lack of villainy and even being well liked by the other characters. But of course that didn't end well, either.

I fucking hate that this stuff is allowed to air in this day and age. People basically being told "look at these people who enjoy this harmless kink? AREN'T THEY AWFUL FREAKS OMG" is not a good thing, jesus.

Awwww. *pets OP* I have that kink too. If it were my fandom I think I'd feel so the same way.

But try not to feel so guilty, it's fruitless to argue with your kinks. It's really ok.

I really dislike those episodes immensely, because even if there's a certain amount of tolerance displayed it's still depicted as something that requires tolerance because it's so out there, if you know what I mean. AND the killer is sometimes (not in this particular episode) someone within the community anyway, so you have the good pervs vs the bad pervs.

None of those are even my kinks and yet I find those episodes really offensive. The whole "this is weird and abnormal" really pisses me off. Bones was actually pretty good through the first bit of the pony play one, but at the end when she was like "yah! monogamous loving vanilla sex is so much better!" I kind of wanted to punch the writers.
