Since you insist on being a condescending dickwad to anonymous users and disregarding their opinions entirely, I'll go ahead and put my account hat on. I only use this to comment on F!S as I'm not really in any livejournal fandoms, so whatever. I really want you to listen to me, because you are being very closed-minded and rude and I want to try to change this.

First of all, as I'm the first anon in this thread (yes there are two) I'll correct your sentence, like you requested:

Just a typo on your part, but I felt like snarking a little. Anyways, I'm sorry to say that you've missed this thread's point completely. I'm not turned on by anyone "really" hurting somebody or being hurt, I'm turned on by fictional characters who cannot actually have feelings/be hurt being in these situations. So are a lot of people. And if I wanted to enact some sort of rape fantasy in my actual sex life with a consenting partner, then that would, in fact, be classified as S&M. And as I'm a healthy individual who can differentiate between fantasy and reality and would never even think of being turned on by/enacting the real thing, I can assure you I do not need to get my head checked.

Like I was saying (and like you ignored completely), I'm not asking you to understand my kink, I'm just asking you not to judge me as mentally ill just for liking something that squicks you. :/

This, thank you. People who want to be armchair psychologists should seriously look up shit about what they're trying to psychoanalyze -- especially when real psychologists have said straight out "yeah there's nothing unhealthy about this."

Rape fantasies have nothing to do with "real rape." No one is being hurt. The whole point of the argument is that no one is being hurt when it comes to fictional rape, or rape being role-played out between consenting partners, or imagining it as a personal little fap-fantasy in your head. People who are turned on by non-con fic (which I would separate from rape fic, if only because the first tends to be porn and the second often focuses more on the tragedy and pain of it and how horrific it is -- at least, I think of two separate things reading the two different terms 8|) or rape fantasies don't turn around and look at real life rapes and go "LOL THAT'S HOT" or "OMG I WANT TO DO THAT/I WANT THAT TO HAPPEN TO ME IRL!"

But getting off on the idea of rape is not the same as getting off on the act of rape. Until you figure out the essential difference there, you're going to be a very unhappy and very tiresome person.

There are many people who are turned on by really hurting or being hurt by other people. Generally these people are ethical and do not exercise this kink except in play or occasionally in limited actuality with consenting partners. It may be a problem, but everyone has some problems, and these are not resulting in any anyone being harmed, so your statement does come off as pretty judgmental even though I kind of agree.

Also you original post does contain an error. It says "if anyone is truly turned on by the thought of rape... needs to have their head examined".

No need to be so defensive It doesn't help your case.
