Only you and your doctors know how likely the threat of a psychotic episode is, and psych medications are not benign creations. If you're pretty well functional in society and have a good support system to help you if something happens, I don't see any reason why not to see how you do off the meds. I'm sure you don't need me to tell you to be careful, either.
But consider. The Doctor might refuse to take you with unless you get back on your meds. Your delight is about as misplaced as all the arm-chair psychiatric advice you've been getting.
