The way Bailey Sarian and some other content creators sit there and put on makeup and do their hair like they're having a big gossip session while they talk about murder and other gruesome topics really turns my stomach. At least pretend to have some respect for the victims. They were humans and deserve basic dignity and respect. And this goes double if they have family and loved ones still alive.

I watch true crime and blocked her channel ages ago. One quick look at her weird gossip-to-my-girlies approach and I closed that tab and never bothered to look at her stuff again.

I have to agree, IMO that's some of the worst types of true crime content there is. It's so easy for any type of true crime content to lean towards being exploitative, and I have to agree that someone doing their makeup while talking about a murder is just extremely distasteful.

I can barely handle a single episode of a true crime episode that's done in a clinical fashion with just a voice narrating over footage or re-enactments without having to feel sad for an hour afterwards at the horrors of the world. I honestly have no idea how people can just binge watch/listen to that kind of thing and be fine.
Obviously each to ones own, but yeah the whole 'lets do our make up and talk about MURDER' adds another layer of something I just don't want to get involved with.

When it's historical crimes, I think it's fine-- I think I was introduced to her when she was talking about something that had happened in the early 1900s, which was fine, it was interesting. But the contemporary crimes, things where people have grieving families, it does feel ghoulish and it turned me off of her content pretty quickly.

Yeah, my partner was into the My Favorite Murder podcast for a while (one of the big, early true crime podcasts which takes this exact gossipy tone) and it was just repulsive to me. Fortunately she eventually got sick of it.
