Deflecting is a good strategy. Or asking them a question about their preference or something. Good idea! Thank you, I'll try that next time.

But, yeah, some of these people kind of ARE assholes. It's just so weird to me because, like, I don't care if you want pureed sausage in your fucking smoothie. Have at it. If I'm not drinking it, then I literally don't care what you get. It's just the way they seem to be personally offended if I don't share their exact preferences or current whims. I forgot to mention it in my first comment but these people know that I HAVE tried the things they're suggesting. I just don't get why they have this feeling, if they think that their taste is so superior everyone else should share it, but. It genuinely baffles me. The reheating of leftovers was particularly bizarre because my friend was just so fucking offended that I was going to put my food in the toaster oven, she really got a little upset over it.
