I love the Elizabeth Taylor music video because:

1. I get to look at one of the most beautiful faces to ever grace this earth
2. I don't feel like I have to scour the whole thing for a million TS Easter Eggs
3. It reminds me of the kind of fan vids people used to make, the ones where they actually went through tons of footage and at the very least matched the beat of the song to the editing (if not the lyrics as well). Plus they didn't rely on leaving dialogue in like it seems everyone does nowadays, which is just the antithesis of a music video if you ask me.

I'm gonna be real here babe this sounds like cope. The whole rollout has been disappointing (to say nothing of the album itself) and it's ok to admit that

+1

Nah. As a certified TS hater: it’s perfectly understandable that someone likes something you don’t. I actually get the impression that the super hardcore Swifties whose entire personality is that they’re Swifties have been pretty meh about TLOAS but her less feverish fans and general pop fans actually like the album more.

They thought Reputation was shit, but now Reputation is held up as one of her greatest works. It just wasn't 1989 when it was first released. I mean, I remember how much Bionic by Christina Aguilera was dogged on when it was first released, and it's had its moment of redemption.

I mean, it's her 12th album. She had to make a shitty one at some point. Not every pancake is going to cook perfectly.

Just because you don't like it doesn't mean it's shitty. I don't really listen to TS except or what's on the radio or when driving in the same car as my Swiftie friend but I listen to other musicians and have liked albums that other fans largely disliked. It's a matter of personal taste more than objective quality.

Cool, cool. Objective, subjective whatever. The fact is, no matter how long you've been in the industry as a pop star, no matter how successful you are or how much your fans love your work, there's going to be a point where you're going to release an album that isn't as well received as your past ones. And the more albums you release, the more likely it's going to occur. It might be a critical failure, it might be a commercial failure, it might just be something that's not as beloved by your fans. Maybe you tried something and it didn't work, maybe your music has gotten stale, maybe it wasn't the best time for the album to be released, it happens. Despite its success, a lot of people are underwhelmed by this record. You have the trilogy of Speak Now, Red & 1989 that were fairly well received on release and everything she's released since then, with maybe the exception of Folkmore, has had the same response since Reputation: the people who love it instantly and the people who need some time, and the people who view it as a major step down because it's not as good as either one of the trilogy or the album beforehand. It's not a personal failure to dislike a popular album. It's fine. One of my favourite albums of all time is a colossal flop that decimated the artist's career. I'm not a better or worse person just because I like that album more than whatever Life of a Showgirl was trying to achieve. It just seems rushed and poorly executed.

Love this

The last praise for a TS made me go look it up and it was so much fun. Going to have to go look this one up next!

Well, that was an utterly delightful video. :D
I had no idea there was so much (teased) nudity in 'Cleopatra'.
And wow, Elizabeth Taylor...so freakin' gorgeous.
