Goddammit! First, Lost in Austen makes me feel sympathy for Wickham. Now The Other Bennet Sister makes me like Collins too. Well at least Mrs Bennett remains five hundred shades of awful, there better be no P&P spin-off that makes me feel sorry for her!!!

LOL! The Other Bennet sister is on my list of stuff to watch, OP. I enjoyed the book, too.

It's so cute. Tom Hayward in the mini defines yearning.

That's Mr Collins in the middle? He's described as being tall and heavy-looking in P&P, I think. Hm, a bit of a casting choice?

He's short and heavy-set in three adaptations I can think of: 1995, 2005, and The Other Bennet Sister.

I'm really enjoying the series, but I'm only halfway through!

I think the point of both Mr and Mrs Bennet is that they weren't always awful but ended up that way through poor choices, so a prequel could make me feel sympathy for them without altering my feelings towards them in canon.

XD
I feel like OP's experience is so "realizing you're an adult" coded.
As we get older, we find ourselves seeing people in three dimensional ways. Like, "Oh that grouchy old lady isn't mean just because she enjoys being mean. She'd been treated poorly by her ex-husband." Or "oh my boss has a shitty home life, that's why they're nice but weirdly distant."

if you don't already feel sorry for Mrs. Bennett I don't know what book you're reading.
