Yeah, I hear you. It's disappointing. Like others have said, I think people MEAN to, but they just... don't. Life gets in the way. And IMO, it doesn't help that saying, "I'll leave a comment soon!" might mentally tick the box in their head in an unintentional way so there's not that nagging voice at the back of their head telling them to do it.

I think you're right about that "checking a box" so they end up not actually doing it.
