Fandom is weird, caring too much about characters and their relationships is weird, dedicating time for a piece of media is weird, making OCs, fan-content, etc, is weird.

I personally never seen the relevance to whether of not the rest of the fandom is interested in what someone in particular is doing, especially because self-shipping being a community within fandom already proves it's not true that no one is interested.
