Re: How do you open up the "Hey, I think I've been depressed lately" conversation with your doctor?

It's hard to say because doctors are different, as very general advice (please adjust this as seems fitting to your situation!) I would suggest bringing up that you have been feeling low energy and low mood, and how it's been affecting you. Be honest about what is going on and where it's a problem, such as socially, with work/school/hobbies, self care, etc. Keep an open mind during the conversation, your doctor might have thoughts on what could be causing this that you didn't consider before.

It's great that you are wanting to talk to your doctor about this, it can be scary. It's your doctor's job to hear your concerns, it may feel awkward but it's perfectly correct to bring up a mental health issue that's impacting your day to day life.
