Re: How do you open up the "Hey, I think I've been depressed lately" conversation with your doctor?

(Anonymous) 2026-04-25 08:38 am (UTC)(link)
I saw my doctor (I've been seeing him for about a decade now so he knows me) on Wednesday for a psychiatrist referral and I was just honest. He knows how messed up I've gotten since I lost my dad and my cat, how changing my anxiety medication hasn't helped and how I've been struggling to get out of freeze response for at least a month now. My sister came along for moral support and I got my referral.

It helps to jot down the basics that you want to talk about - when things started (if you can recall), what's been helping and what hasn't and why you feel as though you're depressed.
