AYRT - think that's bad? Now we have nuikatsu, aka going out with your plushie (nui) and taking pictures, except they made extra clothes for your plushie that you can also purchase and the other day I was browsing some rando's secondhand merch (meaning they used it and resold) and lo and behold there were NUI SIZED ITABAGS. For $10 now you can make your oshi (best boy) become a consummerist with an itabag of his own and I have little doubt that soon they will be selling keyrings for nui sized itabags so yeah

NAYRT - I had no idea this was a mainstream thing, outside of maybe hardcore Labubu collectors. I'm a selfshipper, and I've been scheming to take up sewing/embroidery to make a nui-style doll of my f/o (commissions are prohibitively expensive at $150+ for quality 10cm dolls with clothes.).

Not so much to make social media posts with. I'm much too shy for that aside from sharing with a few selfship-friendly circles. Mostly just to take while running errands to pretend like I'm going on a date with the character lol.

AYRT - Well.. hardcore otaku aren't exactly mainstream either. But I think most casual anime fans who are teens or young adults and only collect merch of their #1 favorite series will probably have a nui which wasn't usual in the past (remember garage kits?)

The 'good' news for you is marketplaces like Aliexpress now have 10cm and prob even 20cm naked nuis for like $10 as well as wigs you can attach rather easily. I do sew but I don't have a sewing machine right now, so I love no-sew stuff and found this to be worth the price. I love plushies, though I didn't get the appeal of going outside with a plushie until I actually did it and you know what, maybe I'm tired of going out alone everyday, maybe it's nice to go to a cafe with my oshi once in a while lmao he's cute at least

WOW.... in the past nuikatsu was a very niche hobby and a ton of people in the past knitted their own plushie. I followed a lot of shippers who knitted their oshi and took random pictures with mostly mundane captions. I always loved looking at them! I had no idea they were so commercialised nowadays.
