The current trend on damn near every single subreddit I visit is to make these ugly Tomadachi avatars of characters in the fandom and post it on the sub. I hate it so much. Nothing against the game but I think these are so ugly and the posts are uninteresting, and I hate looking at them.

Ughhhhh this has just become a thing in my main fandom starting last Friday and it’s like 20 of these fugly posts every day. I really wish the mods would put them all in a superthread if not outright ban them. I really think such low tier content should be banned but I also think that if so many people are making the same thing, a superthread would be good so they can all chat and compare notes.

I've only seen it a few times on places like Tumblr and Twitter, but yeah, I'm not a fan of the designs. The weird bubblish-looking heads, flat faces, weird noses...ugh.

I don't think they're ugly, I just...don't care about them. It's like someone posting their fandom Sims. It's fun for the maker and I don't mind if people post on Twitter about them since that's their personal space, but I hate how they clog up fandom tags and communities. I'm following those spaces because I want to see things about the fandom, not your tangentially-related video game (especially since most of the posts are the same, oh boy another post from someone else who made the most popular ship in Tomodachi Life, so unique, so something I needed to see for the millionth time).

That's exactly my problem with it! If people would just tag them (or even put it in the body of the post so I can content filter) I wouldn't mind half as much

I'll be honest and say I love these. They're repetitive, sure, but there's still some that get a hearty laugh (like this one dude who did the Mordetwi meme) from me. I do wish people would at least tag or have some kind of filtering, though.

Can't say I'm surprised that Tomodachi Life is taking off as big and wide as it has, tho'. Nintendo Switch is still a pretty popular system (even with normies) and given a large chunk of people can't afford a Switch 2 right now, the people who have major FOMO from the Pokemon Pokopia fad are glomming onto the "We have McDonalds at Home" part of the meme since Tomodachi Life is available on both consoles, while Pokopia is only on Switch 2.

... Yanno, it's kind of surprising how collective socmed consciousness quickly dropped Pokemon Pokopia like a hot potato when this dropped, too.

*shrug* I think they're cute. But then, I used to make tons of Miis during my 3DS days and it was interesting to see them interacting, so I'm used to it.
